Accent Reduction & Elocution Coaching FAQs

What is accent reduction coaching?

Accent reduction coaching (also known as accent softening or pronunciation coaching) helps you speak English more clearly and confidently. The aim isn’t to remove your identity or heritage, but to ensure your speech is easily understood in both personal and professional settings.

Who is accent reduction coaching for?

It’s ideal for non-native English speakers, bilingual speakers, or anyone who feels their accent sometimes makes communication challenging. Many clients seek support for work presentations, customer-facing roles, interviews, or everyday conversations. These sessions are also for native English Speakers that are looking to soften a strong regional accent and help their communication to be clearer.

Do I need to change my accent completely?

Not at all. The goal is clarity, not erasing who you are. We focus on gently adjusting pronunciation, rhythm, stress patterns, and speech flow so you can be easily understood, while making sure you still sound like yourself.

What can I expect in an accent reduction session?

Sessions usually include sound practice, mouth placement techniques, word practice, sentence practice and longer text practice with the target sounds. There are also plenty of opportunities to practice improvised speech to make sure our work comes through in your real-world speaking, You’ll receive personalised feedback and targeted exercises based on your speech patterns.

How long does it take to notice improvement?

Many clients notice progress within a few sessions, especially with regular practice. The timeline depends on your goals, your starting point, and how often you practise between sessions. The more you practice beyond our sessions the faster your progress will be.

Will accent reduction help with public speaking?

Yes—improved pronunciation, pacing, and clarity often lead to stronger public speaking skills. Many clients combine accent reduction with Public Speaking coaching for the best results.

Can accent reduction coaching help me with job interviews or workplace communication?

Absolutely. Clear, confident communication can make interviews, presentations, meetings, and client interactions easier and more effective. We can tailor sessions to the specific situations you face at work.

Is accent reduction offered online?

Yes, all accent and spoken-English coaching is done online via video call. This allows you to practise in a relaxed setting and schedule sessions at times that suit you.

What if I feel self-conscious about my accent?

This is completely normal. Sessions are supportive, encouraging, and judgement-free. The focus is on helping you feel more confident and empowered in how you speak, not criticising your natural accent.

Do you provide exercises to practise between sessions?

Yes, you’ll receive personalised exercises and recordings so you can continue improving between sessions. Consistent practice is key to long-term success.
